Whole school team approaches to positive behaviour

I was reminded this morning, that during my study I spent a long time working through various evidence-based behaviour management strategies. As I came across the QLD approach to a whole school approach, I was reminded of how I had actually tried to implement these practices within the setting where I work.
What I forgot, was that the TIER system is something that we already implement, however, the complex nature of the work environment leads to processes not being followed in the path, which has led to frustrating and confusing circumstances.

One thing that I do know is that to be a trauma-informed, or trauma- aware school, you very much have to proactively plan. But rather than constantly stick with one plan, you use the evidence and data to tweak what you do to best support those who need it the most.
A whole school approach is a team based approach which also allows to parent and community voice to be applied to the planning and implementation phases.
Currently we are looking into a Positive Behaviour Action Plan that recognises that students need proactive and preventative measures to be put into place to support the increase of positive behaviour. Punative consequences do not work. A balance of fair and restorative processes can assist in being able to share positive behaviour change. However parental and family /allied health services imput is also extremely valuable. A team approach to anything is always better, but when there are many voices championing the needs of one child, it not only takes the pressure away from the teacher, and the parent, but also allows for problem solving strategies to be shared and for the child to know that they have a support team.
